Isuzu Off-Road Academy experience lauded in SA press

At Isuzu Truck Centre, we are fortunate to find ourselves in the position of being 100% confident about the quality of every truck and bakkie that makes its way off our lots and showroom floors. However, that doesn’t mean it’s any less exciting to see our sentiments reflected in print, which is what happened when journalistTracy Lee Stark from The Citizen recently partook in an advanced Isuzu 4x4 driver training session at the Isuzu Off-Road Academy, based at the Gerotek testing facility close to Pretoria.

Their adventure started at the Gerotek testing facility and then moved on to the famous Hennops Off-Road Trail, which has been designed to enable 4x4 drivers to experience the true pleasure of putting their vehicles to the test in a controlled environment. The trail features a variety of obstacles, including mud holes, rocky ascents, steep descends and plenty of dongas. Stark, who was initially daunted by the technical nature of the track, quickly found herself relaxing as she followed the expert guidance of the academy instructors, and realised that she could let the bakkie to most of the work.

"The Isuzu was amazing and only steering was required while the car drives itself," says Tracy. "You’re able to put your full trust in the car, knowing all the engineering and computing is taking care of you. Self-driving cars are no longer 'the future'. Technically, with such advanced vehicles on the road, it should be easier to answer the age-old question of who’s the better driver - men or women? The answer, of course, is the Isuzu."
