FUEL-EFFICIENCY AND BEYOND: A JOURNEY WITH ISUZU D-MAX FROM JOZI TO CAPE TOWN

Isuzu has long been known for producing vehicles that are reliable and fuel-efficient. To prove that they still hold true to this reputation, they organised a test drive to put Isuzu's new 1.9l turbo diesel D-Max to the test in road trip from Johannesburg to Cape Town. The Isuzu D-Max bakkie range, particularly the 1.9 models, have always been synonymous with good fuel economy and reliability, making it a popular choice for many South Africans, especially with current fuel prices.

Driving the D-Max 1.9 Ddi Double Cab 4x2 manual, Grant McCleery, former racing driver and head of the Isuzu Driving Academy, completed the 1,431km journey using only 73.82l of fuel. This equates to just 5.1l / 100km, an outstanding feat by any standard but even more impressive considering the fact that McCleery managed to maintain an average speed of 100km/h over the distance. This proves that the D-Max is not only fuel-efficient but also capable of handling long-distance driving with ease.

With the launch of the seventh-generation D-Max last year, Isuzu raised the bar significantly in all areas, including technology, safety, comfort, and refinement.

The D-Max’s latest-generation is built right here in Mzansi and features a 1.9l four-cylinder intercooled turbo diesel produces 110kW of power and 350Nm of torque. It features a 200 MPA common rail direct injection system and a high-efficiency variable geometry turbocharger for excellent response and acceleration.

Isuzu offers 24 D-Max models in South Africa, with 16 of them powered by the economical 1.9 Ddi engine. There are five Single Cabs, four Extended Cabs, and five Double Cabs available in the 1.9 Ddi engine range. This range offers a variety of options to suit the needs of different drivers, from those who require a vehicle for commercial use to those who need a reliable vehicle for everyday use.

Isuzu's Jozi to the Mother City test drive proves that the D-Max range continues to deliver on their promise of being fuel-efficient and reliable. The D-Max's budget-friendly capabilities make it an attractive option for those looking for a vehicle that is both efficient and capable. With the launch of the seventh-generation D-Max, Isuzu has set a new standard for bakkies in South Africa, one that promises to provide drivers with a vehicle that is safe, comfortable, and built to last.
