The exterior modelling of the Toyota Quantum Bus is where the most noticeable change lies. It is a welcome overhaul that is both poised and elegant. Available in Quicksilver Metallic and Ivory White, there is an intention behind Toyota’s new design. The model has been assembled to maximize space within the cabin. Passengers are now afforded more legroom and headroom, heightening the feeling of comfort within the bus. Quantum fans may also notice the new 16” alloy wheels, which add to the overall stylish aesthetic.
There is a variety of luxury finishes inside the model, depending on the taste or requirement of the consumer. There is the choice of synthetic leather and fabric seats, as well as the always-useful Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. A curious standout feature inside the vehicle is the use of shapes and patterns. Toyota has noted that the intention behind this was to give the model effect of “travelling through space.”
The Toyota Quantum Bus also seems to have presented an opportunity for Toyota to enhance its capabilities on the road. All models are equipped with a powerful 2.8l engine that produces a stable and comfortable drive. This engine variant can produce just enough capacity in any given situation.
The driver-assist technologies are what make this model stand out from its peers. Toyota understands how important it is to underline safety, especially with its people movers. There are useful functionalities such as Hill-Assist Control and Vehicle-Stability Control. The standout amongst them would be the inclusion of Trailer Sway Control, which is convenient for stabilizing a trailer.
Toyota has ensured that this range is also priced competitively. The entry-level Toyota Quantum 2.8 LWB bus 11-seater GL retails for R758 200, whilst the model at the top of the range retails for R1 111 400.
